Many people on this site wander why certain people are appointed as Leaders So i thought that i would shed some light on what this topic of Leadership actually is.

Some people in History have different ideas of Leadership

"We define Leadership...As a skill of influencing people to work toward goals for the common good"- James C Hunter

"The successful Leader gets superior performance from ordinary people"-Al Kaltman

"The leaders job is to provide an empowering environment that enables employees to serve their customers and provide them the training, education, and support they need- Bill George

"Leaders provide a mental picture of a preferred future and then ask them to follow them there" Andy Stanley

"Leadership is mobilizing others towards a goal shared by the leader and followers- Gary Wills

John Maxwell sums up leadership in his book "the 21 irrefutable laws of leadership"

-Leadership is influence:nothing more nothing less. People have so many misconceptions of Leadership when they hear someone has an impressive title or an assigned leadership position, they assume he is a leader sometimes this is true. But titles don't have much value when it comes to leading. True Leadership cannot be appointed, awarded,or assigned. It comes only from influence and that cannot be mandated. It must be earned.
