ever since i was nineteen i have struggled with other peoples labels and accepting them as truths about myself. most everyone is guilty of this to some degree or another. in this process most peoples identity are based off desires and beliefs. this identity can be labeled ego in an eastern since. this ego is a false since of self because it is impermanent and is in constant danger of being destroyed. this ego forms many defense mechanisms some of which become outdated and threaten and dominate the soul and its plan for the individual. I've discovered this leads to depression. now the opposite ,where the soul dominates the ego has been labeled mania by others. if one compares with eastern philosophies the process is similar to enlightenment. for further info please look up key words bipolar, spiritual enlightenment on you tube. this info has benifeted me immeasurably hope it helps.
