The question asked was "Do Moderators get paid". And the answer,of course, was "No.It is voluntary."
Now,that could give the idea that Moderators are "something special"; not so! Mods are members just the same as other members. We can post our opinions, and other members can (and do!) agree or disagree.
So,what do we actually do?
Well,we "moderate" the site! Petrarca owns this site, but he simply cannot do everything himself.Spells Of Magic is just a title; it is not just about spells; it is about anything metaphysical. And it is world wide! A vast organisation. The shop alone deals with selling over 9,000 items all over the world.
So you will see that one man couldn't "moderate" the site.So he needs quite a number of Moderators to keep the site "in order".
Mods are chosen because they have shown that they are sensible,level-headed, and have a modicum of knowledge.
So what do we actually do? We watch for scams;moderate language; watch out for insulting posts or Mail; look out for sexual harassment; obscene language or images.
We make sure that no member is "preaching", because that is against the law;as there are children on the site.
But let's be clear; it is not a full-time job! We can "moderate" when we have time. I am long since retired, so I have more time that some other Mods. Many Mods are quite young, and need to work for a living.
I do hope this "clears the air" about Mods. Any questions?
