This dish I found perfectly suited for the season! Before adding them to the mix you will want to wake it up and empower it with a little of your own energy, I personally pray over mine. A chant or other method is perfectly acceptable.

The ingredients can be empowerd for the following:

Sugar: To sweeten the people who are eating the pie.

Salt: To protect and to help cleanse.

Cinnamon: Used to promote sensuality and can attract a lover who eats it (especially if the sugar has also been awoken). Also, a protector and cleanser.

Ginger: Can help do the following:

1. Spice up or "heat" up a relationship

2. Ward off evil in the same nature as Fiery Protection curios.

Nutmeg: Used for luck, especially in gambling.

Allspice: Prosperity (When awoken along side the nutmeg it can be especially potent).

Cloves: Good for friends and luck.

Ingredients 1 (29 ounce) canpumpkin

1 cupwhite sugar

1 cuplight brown sugar

1 teaspoonsalt

3 teaspoons Saigon cassia cinnamon

1 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground allspice

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground cloves

1 tablespoon double strength vanilla extract

4eggs

2 (12 ounce) cansevaporated whole milk

for garnish, crystallized ginger nibs

for garnish,whipped cream

2frozen 9-inch deep-dish pie shells

Serves / Yields

2 9-inch deep dish pies

Preparation Instructions

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Combine the white and brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, ground ginger, nutmeg, allspice and cloves in a bowl. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs lightly. Add the pumpkin to the eggs, alternating with the sugar and spice mixture. Gradually add the evaporated milk and vanilla extract.

Pour into the prepared pie shells. Do not overfill the pies (there may be some filling left over). Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes, then turn the oven down to 350 and continue to bake for an additional 40-50 minutes. Pie is done when knife inserted in center comes out clean. Sprinkle with ginger nibs and cool on wire racks.

Serve with whipped cream.

Helpful Hints

Using frozen pre-made pie shells (from the frozen food section of your local grocery store) makes this delicious pie a breeze to put together. If you prefer homemade crusts, see the recipe for "Flakey Pie Crust" in the recipe section on thespicehouse.com.

If the edges of your crust get too brown, cover them with aluminum foil for the remainder of time in the oven.
