I was looking for something to make for my mom for mother's day and I found a couple articles about how to make theese. So I thought I'd pass it on. :)

You can make a pennant/talisman that will diffuse essential oils without the use of carrier oils. Many herbalists and aromatherapists highly recommend the use of essential oils.

Materials:

  • Air dry terra cotta clay
  • A cosmetic lid (to use as a "cookie cutter")
  • Clay tools
  • Hemp cord (or any other necklace string)
  • Nail File (Optional)
  • Essential Oil of your choice (**NO CARRIER OILS**)
  1. Knead out your clay and flatten it into a "pancake". It should be about half a centimeter thick.
  2. Use your cosmetic lid to cut out a circle
  3. Using clay tools, carve the pattern or design you want into the clay
  4. Again using the clay tools punch a hole through the top of the talisman for your necklace cord
  5. Allow the Talisman/pendant to dry overnight
  6. Once dry use the nail file to sand off the rough edges of the pendant
  7. Put your hemp cord or other string though the hold you punched and tie the two ends together
  8. Put 2-3 drops of your essential oil onto your new diffuser necklace. (It's important that you do not use essentials that are mixed with carrier oils, as this will clog the pores of the clay and your pendant will not diffuse as it should.) The oil should last for 3-4 days before it needs re-application

I hope you all enjoy it :)
